you currently have a combination or combi boiler
Most solar companies do not have an answer for ‘combi’ boilers. This is because they intrinsically work in a different way to other boiler types. Hot water for your taps is heated on demand straight from your mains water supply, so you will not have an existing hot water cylinder. This poses problems with solar because you will need somewhere to store the solar heated hot water, so space will be needed within your property for the installation of a hot water cylinder. There is also the problem of physically integrating any solar hot water with your combi set up.
Innovative solutions
solaressence® do offer a bespoke solar solution tailored especially for the challenges a combi boiler poses, our ‘C’ range of solar hot water systems.
Many people also opt for a solaressence® ecomaster® that reduces your heating energy consumption at the same time. This is totally compatible with combi boilers and increases any potential savings.
Our dual solar heating system is however not compatible with any type of combi boiler. But it does not end there. We do have many customers who have opted to replace their combi boiler all together with a more modern alternative. We would recommend a model from our remeha condensing range of boilers. This would mean that you now could have a dual system installed.
Another option if you wanted to change your boiler would be to install an air source heat pump. By doing this you could do away with any boiler at all and say goodbye to gas & oil. Again our dual solar heating system is fully compatible with with our range of air source heat pumps.
So to recap without replacing your combi boiler your options are a hot water solar system with or without a solaressence® ecomaster®.
Or to replace your combi boiler with a new condensing, system boiler or air source heat pump and have a solaressence® dual solar heating system installed.
