how it works
The solar collectors u begin to rise in temperature. The temperature differential controller SE3 v monitors the difference between the collector and the thermal store w with highly accurate temperature sensors y . When the temperature of the collectors rises more then 6-8 degrees above that of the thermal store the controller turns the solar pump station { on. This creates circulation within the sealed solar circuit z which is made of pre-insulated stainless steel  duo-flex pipe containing tyfocor (solar grade anti-freeze) heat transfer fluid. This in turn transfers the heat from the solar collectors to your thermal store.
Your boiler x should still be on similar settings as before & will still monitor the temperature in your cylinder, which according to your timing settings will boost the cylinder temperature if required. The need for your boiler to boost the cylinder temperature will depend on the time of the year, the amount of solar availability, and your hot water needs. Sometimes it will need to boost, sometimes it will not. Again it must be remembered that if your boiler does need to boost the temperature, it is just that, a boost. The energy you receive from the solar system displaces the energy your boiler would otherwise have had to produce whether your boiler still has to fire up to boost or not. Please also note that the dedicated solar coil is below that of your boiler input this is so that your solar system takes the full load of the cylinder maximising the amount of solar hot water the cylinder can store and reducing the space within the cylinder that your boiler can heat.
The really clever part of this system  is how it mixes the heat inputs to enable solar heat to enter your central heating system. When you turn your central heating heat is drawn directly off of the thermal store making a useful contribution to you space heating.
Mains pressure hot water is produced on demand by the inbuilt torrent coil | . This means there is no possible stagnation of your hot water supply as it comes directly off of your mains, eliminating the chance of legionnaires disease
The system  is possible to configure for alternative heat inputs such as a wood burning stove through special heat inputs ~. Under floor heating can also be run off the thermal store through special ports }.
This transfer of heat from the solar circuit to the cylinder has the effect of taking the heat out of the collectors u and their temperature drops again. When their temperature has dropped to only 2 degrees above the thermal store the temperature differential controller SE3 v turns off your solar pump w.  The whole process then simply starts again. So in essence the system transfers the heat from the collectors to your thermal store & in turn any heating or hot water requirements in many short bursts throughout the day.
